Program Details

Since 2008, Waymark has partnered with For the Children to host a one-week overnight summer camp for children ages 7–12 in foster care. More than just camp, it’s a place where kids feel safe, cherished, and free to simply be kids.

Campers enjoy classic activities like swimming, fishing, rock climbing, canoeing, Chapel, and team games, along with special events such as Everybody’s Birthday Party, a Superhero Adventure for boys, and the Princess Ball for girls. Each child receives a memory bag filled with a Bible, photo album, and keepsakes—reminders that they are loved and valued.

Royal Family KIDS Camp lays the foundation for all Waymark programs, instilling hope, purpose, and the assurance that each child’s life has meaning and potential.

“I’m wrecked in the best and deepest way by this week. These seven precious girls didn’t just stretch me, they broke me, built me, launched me, and changed me.

What an honor to carry the hearts, the weight, the stories of seven little warriors. For one week, they got to just be kids. Not the oldest sibling who always folds the laundry. Not the strong one who has to hold it together while everything else is falling apart. For one week, I got to hold that for them. Their burdens, their tears, their silence, their laughter, all of it.

And in the middle of it, I got to whisper truth into their hearts: forgive, cling to Jesus, you are not alone. I watched walls fall. I saw brave friendships bloom, even when it was hard, even when it hurt.

RFKC, it’s the hardest, holiest, most heart-wrenchingly beautiful week of my entire year. It drains me, breaks me, but fills me with a joy that’s not of this world. Jesus has taken the broken pieces of my story, and used them to speak hope to these little ones who carry pain far too similar to mine at their age.

These Campers have every piece of my heart forever. Being a big camper is the greatest honor.”

Waymark Alumnus and now Mentor and Volunteer

  • Who is allowed to participate in your programs?
Waymark programs are open to youth ages 6-18+ who have experienced foster care and are in foster, adoptive, relative or group homes. We also provide resources and support for caregivers.
  • Are you a foster placement agency?
No, Waymark is not a foster placement agency. We are a non-profit organization that provides camps, life and job skills training, and mentorship to help youth thrive. Our goal is to stand in the gap by offering community, stability, and resources for youth and their caregivers.
  • How much do your programs cost?
All of our programs are completely free. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we are able to provide programming and resources at no cost to participants or their families.
  • What programs do you provide?
Waymark provides youth with fun camp experiences, life skills training, and ongoing support through mentorship to help them build a stable future. Our programs connect youth with caring mentors, equip them with essential life and career skills, and offer tools and resources for both youth and caregivers. Everything we do is designed to provide the guidance and community they need to thrive.
  • How can I get involved?
There are many ways to make an impact! You can donate to support our work, volunteer at events or camps, or become a mentor. Every effort – big or small – helps create a brighter future for these youth. Visit our Volunteer Page to learn more and get started.
  • Do you work with youth once they are reunified with their biological family or adopted?
Yes, we continue to work with youth if/when they return to their biological family or are adopted.

All Programs Are Possible Because of People Like You

Every Waymark program is completely free for the youth we serve. We believe cost should never be a barrier to hope, healing, and opportunity. But this is only possible because of generous donors and supporters who make it happen. Your gift ensures that every child gets the guidance, resources, and relationships they need to build a brighter future. Join us in making a lasting impact.
