Program Details

Xtreme Journey equips teens and young adults (ages 13+) in foster, adoptive, or relative care with the skills they need to thrive in adulthood.  This skills-training is an integrated part of our Community4Youth mentoring program.

Through engaging Saturday events, participants learn about financial literacy, healthy relationships and boundaries, career prep and exploration, higher education, communication skills, daily living, and self care, all in a supportive, relational environment.

A Career Fair, headshots, mini photo shoot, backpacks, and giveaways are all included in the day for teens.  Trauma-informed training is provided for adults.

Trauma-Informed Training

Trauma-Informed Training equips caring adults to better understand and support youth who have experienced adversity. It’s valuable for anyone who works with kids or teens of any age.

This is available to all adults including parents whose teens are participating in training. RSVP is required as lunch is provided.

When asked “What did you learn today that you feel will help you the most?”

"I learned about watching ... my tone of voice when I am talking to someone and effective communication. I also learned about net worth and how to save money.

“I learned team-building skills that help me communicate better.”

  • Who is allowed to participate in your programs?
Waymark programs are open to youth ages 6-18+ who have experienced foster care and are in foster, adoptive, relative or group homes. We also provide resources and support for caregivers.
  • Are you a foster placement agency?
No, Waymark is not a foster placement agency. We are a non-profit organization that provides camps, life and job skills training, and mentorship to help youth thrive. Our goal is to stand in the gap by offering community, stability, and resources for youth and their caregivers.
  • How much do your programs cost?
All of our programs are completely free. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we are able to provide programming and resources at no cost to participants or their families.
  • What programs do you provide?
Waymark provides youth with fun camp experiences, life skills training, and ongoing support through mentorship to help them build a stable future. Our programs connect youth with caring mentors, equip them with essential life and career skills, and offer tools and resources for both youth and caregivers. Everything we do is designed to provide the guidance and community they need to thrive.
  • How can I get involved?
There are many ways to make an impact! You can donate to support our work, volunteer at events or camps, or become a mentor. Every effort – big or small – helps create a brighter future for these youth. Visit our Volunteer Page to learn more and get started.
  • Do you work with youth once they are reunified with their biological family or adopted?
Yes, we continue to work with youth if/when they return to their biological family or are adopted.
