Program Details
Journey Weekend invites teens ages 12–17 from foster, adoptive, and group homes to an unforgettable weekend camp in the North Georgia Mountains. Through high and low ropes courses, team challenges, art, sports, and roundtable talks, teens build confidence, develop social and emotional skills, and grow in character and resilience.
Highlights include Chapel, a surprise birthday party celebrating each teen, and special experiences like an offsite camping trip for older boys and a spa time for older girls. Campers leave with a photo album capturing memories, encouraging mail from volunteers, and a goodie bag to remind them that they are deeply valued and loved. Above all, Journey Weekend is a place where teens encounter hope, purpose, and the life-changing love of Christ.

Volunteer At Journey Weekend
Training, as well as an application and interview process, is required for all full-time volunteers.
This year, ALL Waymark volunteers (new and returning) who will be staying overnight at camp—are required to complete 3 IN-PERSON training courses BEFORE they will be allowed to serve. Training opportunities, locations, and times listed on RSVP.
When asked, “What did you like best about Journey Weekend?”:
"I got to spend time with my friends and meet new people. I really had a good time and I liked not having my phone. I felt at peace.”
“What I enjoyed this weekend is ... that I got to meet a lot of girls who's been through what I've been through. And seeing them smile and being happy."
“Coming to camp is like coming home.”
